Target enrichment

Target enrichment is a method to increase the population of a biomolecule (nucleic acids or proteins) either by amplification or by hybridization using target-specific probes, which are then isolated by pulldown methods for further analysis and identification. Enrichment is used when wanting to concentrate low-abundance material in order to improve the sensitivity of downstream analysis.

GSEA is a method of identifying classes of genes or proteins over-represented in a large set of genes or proteins. Statistical approaches are used to identify significantly enriched groups.

In genetics, enrichment refers to the concentration of proteins and nucleic acids to allow them to be further analysed and identified.
